What is press release? (4)Author is a professional of telling but not of reading
  • Another reason why your press release goes straight to trash is "Difficult to read". It's a common phenomenon in IT industry or technical industry, but the contents of their press release is difficult anyway! Their terminology flies over and I can hardly know why Japanese words are written in English.
Lots of attached documents (about 5-10 pieces) and letters are too small to read since explanation is quite long. Moving my eyes quickly and looking through, it seems to say "system has made this technology available. To build it ... " but it's impossible for the layman to understand what this is.
Millions of people watch television. The program mostly evaluated is the one old lady in the countryside can understand and enjoy.
Program directors who always make interviews with clarity are hardly familiar with such expertise and knowledge. If they have to pick up the products of IT industry or technical company, info-variety shows would never broadcast a detailed explanation about such products. At least, I have never met who tried such a thing and have never seen such info-variety shows.
Remember Two-legged robot [ASIMO] developed by Honda Motor Co., Ltd.. Technology that enabled the robot to walk with two legs was splendid, however, not only info-variety shows but news shows hardly explained the content of the technical detail.
  • "He can make such lovely moving!"
    "He can now run!"
  • What we see on TV is visible movement. The core technology was not explained even though ASIMO was the world first genuine two-legged robot.Press releases are the first contact to attract coverage. Detailed information doesn't always necessary. When understanding the characteristics of television, it is better to omit the information that is not needed. Though, you need to prepare a data so that you can answer in-depth questions immediately.
Here, please remember that a press release are to go trash at the time of inlaying difficult terms only experts can understand.
